Why we exist

Too much marketing spend is wasted.

Involve Digital was born when advertisers still spent almost everything on print, TV, radio and out-of-home, and digital was an afterthought. The name came from the recommendation we kept making: “you should involve digital in your media plan.”

It was the wild west, and the waste was everywhere. Marketing managers measured success by “hits on the website”. Some agencies resold clicks at a 400% markup. Others claimed digital expertise and quietly outsourced the real work to agencies like ours. The global networks stacked parent agencies over child agencies, buying media at a “standard margin” while a second, hidden margin funded enormous executive salaries behind the scenes. Too much budget was being spent without anyone seeing a commercial result.

Michael Wilkins founded Involve Digital to put a stop to the smoke and mirrors. Advertisers deserved an agency that was full-service, genuinely measurable, and scalable enough to build a brand on. We became one of the first agencies to run true performance campaigns, optimising toward a real outcome (a sale, a lead, a download, a meaningful action) years before LinkedIn even had a conversion pixel, while most of the field still reported fluffy, meaningless numbers.

Transparency and performance are still the two principles everything hangs off. We run lean, fast and efficient, on an Austrian-economic mindset focused on real growth, real metrics and commercial outcomes. The ad platforms are built to extract budget, and without tight, well-optimised campaigns yours gets burnt quietly, month after month, on clicks that never become customers. Stopping that is the core of what we do.

The work itself has changed shape many times over the years. Search now spans Google and ChatGPT. Content is engineered for citation as much as for rank. AI agents do the qualifying that humans used to.

And the bar keeps rising. The landscape is exponentially more competitive than the one we started in. A wave of agencies appeared after the pandemic, many without the depth of experience that only years in the work can build. Satisfying the CMO is no longer enough. Everything we do has to exceed the expectations of the CMO, the CFO and the CEO alike: specific numbers, named clients, dated outcomes, results that hold up in every seat at the table.

  1. 2013

    Founded in Bondi Beach, Sydney. First client signed inside the first month. Performance marketing was barely a discipline yet: LinkedIn did not even have a conversion pixel, and mobile-first was still an argument rather than a default.

  2. 2015

    Involve Digital Inc founded in Nevada, opening the US entity (since reincorporated in Delaware). The year Google made mobile-friendliness a ranking factor and video started taking over the social feed.

  3. 2017

    Involve Digital Limited formed in New Zealand. Conversion tracking had finally matured across the platforms, and attribution and marketing automation became the battleground we had been building toward for years.

  4. 2021

    Involve Digital Limited formed in the United Kingdom. The year Apple's App Tracking Transparency broke platform attribution overnight. We rebuilt measurement around first-party data and server-side tracking while much of the industry scrambled.

  5. 2023

    Universal Analytics retired and generative AI arrived in force. We rebuilt our search practice for answer engines and generative engines, and the first client services we optimised began getting cited directly by ChatGPT.

  6. 2026

    The AI strategist launched as the front door to every engagement, the same one you arrived through. Active client work spans Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, the UAE and Canada.

Performance-first approach

Every decision optimises for commercial outcomes: revenue, pipeline, qualified leads, real growth. Not impressions, not vanity reach, not activity for its own sake. If a tactic does not move a commercial metric, it does not make the plan.

Solid foundations

Most websites do not have a foundation strong enough to be found, crawled, cited or converted against. Before any spend scales, we fix the foundation, so every dollar after it compounds instead of leaking through the cracks.

Strategy without execution is a deck. Execution without strategy is busywork. We do both, under one roof. The people who plan the work are the people who ship it, so nothing gets lost in the hand-off.

Sliding-scale management fees

Our management fee scales inversely to your spend. As your investment grows because the work is paying back, our percentage comes down. Most agencies charge a flat percentage and have no commercial reason to grow you beyond their slice. We do.
